COPA is a regional nonprofit organization spanning Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, made up of 24 member institutions of churches, synagogues, public schools and nonprofits.
COPA’s mission is to develop the leadership skills of ordinary people to engage effectively in public life with power to negotiate with public and private sector leaders to change the economic, social, political and cultural pressures on their families.
Founded in 2003, COPA has two paid organizers and one administrative assistant. The organization is fueled by 200 active leaders with an ability to mobilize 500 to 5000 leaders. There are 6 to 10 issue strategy teams active at any given time involving leaders across multiple institutions.
